Life in a daily cup!

I often feel that we live in a hyper busy world, where it is very easy to get lost. The truth is, we're on autopilot most of the day, and that's every day. We go through life this way, to an unknown destination, and oftentimes we don't remember the journey and fail to notice the beauty of life.

On autopilot we tend to get lost in "doing" things, so we're constantly pushing ourselves hard and struggling with "doing" and "having" instead of really living. We end up not being present in our lives anymore, as if we were given more to live. Our mind habitually wanders away from the present moment, we find ourselves caught up in thoughts about the past or what will be and what we will do tomorrow. In other words, we are very rarely fully present in the moment.

"You can't escape death and taxes" says the charming Brad Pitt in "Meeting Joe Black", but I refuse to believe that we are only born to work and pay taxes. It has to be more than that! I think we should enjoy all the good and wonderful things that God has given us, the beautiful people that surround us. I know for sure that life means much more and every day I do my best to enjoy everything I get, and a good, aromatic coffee is always an opportunity to savor, to enjoy the present moment.

I admit, sometimes I fight and scold my friend, procrastination, who sneaks into my life and tries to convince me that happiness can be experienced later, in no case "now". Probably like many of us, my procrastination manifests itself in long internet searches, delaying the inevitable. The good thing is that one of these searches brought me face to face with a poem that I really liked and chose to share with you:

I think we are each responsible for our own cup. Some drink it quickly, in a hurry and go through life on "fast forward", without enjoying what life has to offer them. Others drink it slowly, savor every sip, to feel it, they live every moment, every moment in order not to lose its aroma, to feel the fragrance deep in the heart. If we happen to drink it too fast, we run the risk of burning ourselves out and not experiencing this thing called Life at all.

We reach the last sip and realize that the years have passed in a second, that we are ending this experience that was supposed to be a pleasant one. You wish you could extend the moment a little more or, why not, be able to get another cup, full if possible. So let's enjoy the intense aroma of coffee, while we have this cup in our own hands, let's enjoy it until the last sip!
