Now, at the end of my journey in the academic space , I see myself faced with a new transition - the road from a coffee without sugar and milk mechanically extracted from a perfectly calibrated and optimized La Marzocco with a strict recipe to a dripper coffee - to filter, where the extraction is controlled by fewer factors, but which always surprises you with a story, not linked to any recipe, but to the personality of the bean. After five years of following a certain strict recipe, I have reached the point where my story is becoming somewhat random, influenced not by external causes or recipes, but by my inner world.
In its pure essence, filter coffee is extracted from hot water, with the help of the mastery of the barista and the bean that proudly carries the personality given by the land in which it grew. So am I - a humble student, shy by nature, but with a personality extracted over the years by the temperature of the water called academic journey and the school of life . With good, with bad, it helped me become a coffee of a decent strength, with subtle notes of pseudo-adult, responsibility and a lot of patience for trifles.
The extraction process was a tortuous one, managing to bring out important notes of my personality, but the magic happened simultaneously with the cooling of me along the way, as a thread and as a person. When all the experiences settled, I carefully processed them and carefully filtered the real needs of an adult, in a fast-forward , often superficial and sometimes even evil society. Process also found in an Ethiopia, which immediately after an extraction made by a glorious V60, has complex notes and reveals a floral story, slightly sweet, with traces of dried apricots and a little acid as a finish . Allowing it to settle a little, the rich oils take effect and the floral notes explode and seductively dress the textured cup with an apricot and citrus scent, proudly displaying the roots of the personality acquired from the rich and fertile soil of Werka Chelchele. Like a story of a student who laughs at the BAC after a first session or passes with some comfort through a dissertation after the drudgery of the first bachelor's paper.
Each of us has gone through an extraction in life, where we were hit with different challenges that we got through - with a lot of patience and perseverance - and became the adults we are today, proudly wearing every scar.
