The Brewing Guide. How do we prepare a Siphon coffee?

As usual, in each issue of the newspaper we will present a method of coffee preparation. This time we will focus on the Siphon. This brewing method is also known as the Vacuum brewer and is an exceptional way to extract all the flavors from the ground coffee. For best results, carefully follow the ingredient requirements and steps listed below.

You need:

  • Siphon
  • weighing
  • Timers
  • grinder
  • mixing paddle (bamboo or plastic)
  • burner

Once you have the necessary things at hand, the preparation of coffee is carried out in the following way:

1. Wet the cloth filter thoroughly and place it inside the top of the apparatus so that the ball chain falls through the inside of the tube and pull the chain until the hook can be caught on the end of the tube.

2. Heat the water in the kettle and at the same time grind 24 gr of roasted coffee for alternative methods (brew / filter coffee).

3. Put the holder with the lower part of the device on the scale, and when the water reaches the boiling point, pour 400 ml of water into the container on the scale, then take the device off the scale, and place the upper part with the glass tube in the bottom bowl without sealing it (tilted), with the burner positioned below.

4. Before starting to boil the water, fix the top of the appliance by pressing so that it closes the seal well.

5. When the water reaches the top container, start the timer, add the ground coffee, and mix twice in a back-and-forth motion. Then reduce the intensity of the flame carefully so as not to cause the coffee to fall into the container below.

6. After 35 sec. mix gently a second time, by moving back and forth, so that the crust formed on top is broken. Reduce the intensity of the flame even more.

7. When the timer reaches 1:30 min, remove the flame and stir gently in circles on the side of the container.

8. It should take approx. 45 sec, so the total time should be 2:25 min.

9. The cloth filter should be immediately removed and washed thoroughly. He should be kept in a cup of water so that he is always moist. For optimal results it is recommended not to use the filter more than 10 times.
