Naranjuyacu is a small coffee-growing community in the Cutervo province of northern Peru, where fertile soils, mountain landscapes, and dedicated local farmers contribute to the development of specialty coffee.
Coffee cultivation began expanding in the area around 2010, gradually becoming an important part of local agriculture. As farmers moved their crops to higher elevations, cooler temperatures allowed coffee cherries to ripen more slowly, contributing to improved quality.
This community lot brings together the work of 54 small-scale farmers who carefully cultivate their coffee while respecting the surrounding environment. Many follow sustainable farming practices, protecting local forests and avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
The name Naranjuyacu, meaning “orange water,” combines Spanish and Quechua, reflecting the region’s cultural heritage. Through the dedication of its farming families, this coffee represents the growing potential of Peruvian specialty coffee and the strong connection between the land and the people who cultivate it.
